Then the device will be left on until the person has recovered from their cardiac arrest. A chest X-ray will need to be taken to determine the extent of the injury to the heart. If there is a severe injury than other procedures will need to be initiated.


It is important that people with a defibrillator know how to use it properly. Practice CPR on a person who cannot give you their name or address. If you do not have someone to assist you with these steps then ask for assistance from a family member, neighbor, or a friend.
